The Lavra Nezlamna Foundation, in cooperation with the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve, has begun practical implementation of the Gate of Time project, which involves restoration of the monumental painting Monastery Walls at the central entrance to the Reserve.

At this stage, the key areas of work have been identified, the project objectives have been formulated, and the comprehensive preparatory work necessary to begin restoration activities has been carried out.

Project objectives

The main objective of the ‘Gateway to Time’ project is to preserve and restore unique monumental paintings of significant historical, artistic, and spiritual value.

The main objectives of the project include:

preserving the authentic layer of paintings;

to stop further destructive processes;

to restore the integrity of the artistic image;

to pass on the monument in a stable condition to future generations.

The project is being implemented in accordance with the principles of minimal intervention and respect for the historical context.
